Telstra and BlackBerry developer, Research in Motion claim to have "introduced the new BlackBerry 8700g in Australia. However this, or a near identical device, has already been introduced by Vodafone for use on its network. The BlackBerry 8700g has a 35 key QWERTY keyboard, high resolution screen that supports more than 65,000 colours and "an innovative light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts the screen and keyboard lighting to optimised levels in outdoor, indoor and dark environments."

It is based on an Intel XScale processor, has a 64MB flash memory and 16MB SDRAM and retails for $799.
