Telstra adds time-limited option to Wireless Broadband

Your IT - Home IT

timedcallsTelstra BigPond has introduced two time-limited rather than download limited plans for its Wireless Broadband service accessed from card modems, and has cut the monthly charges for existing plans by $20.
The service is provided on its destined-for-closure CDMA 1X EV-DO network.

Plans now start with 10 hours access for $29.95 per month, and 20 hours for $49.95, both at 512/64kbps. Prices for the existing plans have all been cut by $20 per month, as follows: 256/64, 200MB, now $49.95 and 1GB now $79.95; 512/64, 400MB, now $79.95; and 1GB, now $109.95.

The 512/64, 400MB, $79.95; is the closest comparison to an iBurst plan (512/256 with 500MB from Veritel for $74.95).

Unwired makes no distinction between desktop and card modem pricing. Its cheapest 512/128 plan is $54.95 per month but comes with a 2GB download. A Vodafone 3G card service costs $49.95 per month with 300MB and for $99 per month with unlimited usage

Optus 3G data card services are: $29.95 for 75MB; $39.95 for 200MB; $79.95 for 500MB; $129.95 for 1.5GB. It claims download speeds of up to 384kbps.

Telstra can claim the broadest coverage with services now available in all capital cities and some 23 other towns and cities.
