We can see the Wi-Fi iPad arrives on April 3 in the US, and while Australia is clearly not mentioned in the ad, given that it is aimed at the US domestic Oscars audience, we know from Apple's recent press release that both the Wi-Fi and 3G versions of the iPad will be available in Australia from 'late April'.

There's still an incredible amount of doubt out there over whether or not the iPad will truly go mainstream, and even Microsoft has popped up again with images and video of its upcoming 'Courier' tablet as seen over at Engadget.

However, once again, Apple is shipping in less than a month (at least in the US), while plenty of other devices are either poorly designed Windows 7 slate pads which still aren't locally on sale, or are devices due later in the year as is supposed to be the case not only with the Microsoft Courier but even its Windows Phone 7 Series devices, which could well be wiped out by Apple's upcoming iPhone OS 4.0 software and it iPhone 4.0 hardware.

That said, whatever the truth of Apple iPhone 4.0 generation, the 1st Gen iPad with its iPad OS 3.2 will get into consumers hands first, with Apple no doubt banking on both its still amazing software and a powerful first mover advantage that, as some have predicted, could well be the catalyst to finally transform the mobile tablet market into a true mainstream phenomenon.
