Teens don't blog or tweet

Your IT - Home IT

Two new surveys reveal that interest in blogging is flagging among American teenagers and young adults, while American teenagers hardly use Twitter at all.

The surveys were conducted by the Pew Research Center as part of its Internet & American Life Project.

The teen data came from a cellphone survey conducted last summer of 800 12-to-17-year-olds and their parents. Most of the adult (18 and up) data came from telephone surveys conducted of 2,253 adults last August and September.

The surveys found that interest in blogging among teens has dropped by half in the last two years: 14% of online teens say they blog, down from 28% in 2006.

When it comes to commenting on others' blogs, 52% reported doing it last year compared to 76% three years ago.

Young adults are less interested in blogging these days, too: 15% maintain a blog, down from 24% two years ago.
