Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Vodafone has reduced the price of its Vodafone Mobile Connect with 3G data card, by $100 to $299. It is also available for $0 upfront and $12.46 per month for 24 months.
There are three service plans: Data 100 $29.95 per month with 100Mbytes and 0.2 cents per kbyte thereafter; Data 300, $49.95 with 300Mbytes and 0.2 cents per kb; Data Unlimited $99.95,with unlimited email and internet access.
Vodafone says the Unlimited bundle "provides users with as much data in Australia as they can use, within the generous Fair Use policy, which may affect usage over 1GBbyte per month. "This bundle is only available to a single user and must not be shared across multiple users or multiple devices.
The service operates at up to 384kbps on the 3G network, less on 2G. It can also roam on all 16 Vodafone 3G networks presently operating in other countries and in GPRS (2G) mode on some 40 networks overseas. Data transfers overseas are charged at 1 cent per kbyte with a 10 cent minimum.
The Vodafone card is now priced the same as Unwired's and Personal Broadband'a iBurst but Unwired users must sign up for a 12 month contract to get the Unwired card at that price. Unwired's data charges are $49.95 for a 512/128K service including 400MBytes of downloads and range to a $109.95 plan for a 750/256kbps connection with 12GBytes of downloads.
Optus recently introduced new plans on its mobile data service, which also offers seamless roaming across 2g, 3G and Optus' WiFi hotspots. These were: $29.95 - 75MB; $39.95 - 200MB; $79.95 - 500MB; $129.95 - 1.5GB.
One iBurst reseller, Chilli Internet offers plans as follows: 512/128k with 300MB, $49.95; 1Mb/345k with 500MB, $64.95; with 1GB, $99.95; with 3GB,$129.95; with 10GB, $199.95
