Number two chipmaker AMD and distributor Ingram Micro intend to expand the footprint for AMD64 processor-based systems in Australia and New Zealand with the full range of AMD’s desktop, mobile and server microprocessor products.

“Ingram Micro is an important part of our growth strategy in Australia and New Zealand,” said Bryan Low, sales and marketing vice president, South Asia, AMD. “AMD is helping customers break free to new levels of feature-rich performance to dramatically improve a broad range of computing environments in government, commercial and consumer markets. Along with Ingram Micro, we are offering Australia and New Zealand a greater variety of choice when dealing with third parties through the distribution channel.”

Matt Sanderson, product director at Ingram Micro said of the existing global partnership, “AMD continues to enjoy significant growth in the components business market. It makes sense for AMD to develop their distribution channel to capitalise on their growth and we look forward to supporting them in this aim in Australia.”

Tony Butler, managing director of Ingram Micro New Zealand said, “This development is a positive step forward since it means greater variety for New Zealand businesses when it comes to choosing microprocessor solutions.”
