It's long been understood that slow page loading can drive visitors into the arms of competing sites. Now Compuware reckons it can put a dollar value on your site's performance.
Developed by Gomez (the web performance operation acquired by Compuware last year), F.A.S.T. Calculator is based on page abandonment data collected between November 10 and December 10, 2009.
The data came from sites in a variety of industries, including retail, travel and financial services.
The tool produces an estimate of the additional revenue that could be realised by improving the site's performance.
"Consumers expect immediate response regardless of where in the world they might be accessing a site from, what sort of device they are using and whose network(s) they might be on," said Bob Paul, Compuware's president and COO.
"Competitors are a second away, so organisations can't give customers any excuse to click away, as this tool clearly illustrates," he added.
