Google AdWords steers viewers to YouTube videos

Your IT - Home IT

On the issue of pricing, Matthew Liu, another YouTube product manager in Australia for the launch of the service told iTWire that given this was early days for Promoted Video “the auction pressure is perhaps lower than on other Google products. It is very cost effective at this time.”

Although he declined to predict a range of prices that users might expect to pay he acknowledged that “the minimum cost per click is one cent,” although as Dunwoody confirmed Mitsubishi is paying much more than that at present in a market it has largely to itself.

Nevertheless Dunwoody expects Mitsubishi will continue using the facility. “Mitsubishi Motors has a YouTube channel in Australia. Promoted Video has allowed us to introduce new subscribers to that channel.”

Google has also released what it refers to as Call-to Action overlays which can drive YouTube viewers directly to other websites.

Dunwoody said that Mediaedge:cia, which is an advertising agency which harnesses emerging trends such as mobile communications, the internet and social networks to engage with target markets, was almost certain to use the service with other clients looking to promote products or services through video. “This is the evolution of search engine marketing, with video,” said Dunwoody.
