HP goes berserk: new desktops, notebooks and touch systems

Your IT - Home IT

"Since the launch of the first TouchSmart PC nearly three years ago, we've worked closely with a growing number of software companies and independent vendors to develop built-for-touch applications that give consumers and businesses rich interactive multimedia experiences," said James Mouton, senior vice president and general manager of the desktop global business unit within HP's personal systems group.

"These collaborations have helped to make HP touch computing the most advanced touch experience in the market today."

And finally, there's what HP describes as its "first fully interactive, 42in diagonal, high-definition digital signage touch display," the HP LD4200tm.

Designed for use in kiosks, retail premises, travel terminals, hotel lobbies, and similar locations, the multitouch screen provides full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) with a 178 by 178 degree viewing angle.

The LD4200tm is designed for round-the-clock operation with low power usage and good longevity, HP officials claimed.

Prices start at $US2799.

Most of the products announced will ship on October 22, though the TouchSmart 300 is due on November 1, with the TouchSmart 9100 and LD4200tm following in December.
