Google drops a second alien clue

We are being taunted by Google.  Last week it was an alien spacecraft stealing the letter O; this week, it's the L that's being targeted.

About a week ago, Google's logo presented the world with an alien abduction scenario showing a flying saucer 'stealing' the second 'O' from the Google logo.  Today, we see crop circles tracing out the Google logo with the L replaced by a small green 'bug.'

Adding intrigue, this afternoon (Australian time) the Google twitter account blithely tweeted a geographical reference: 51.327629, -0.5616088.  Keen observers will note that this is just to the eastern side of Kettlewell Hill Rd in Horsell.

So what?  Well, this is the exact place where H. G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" had the first UFO landing.  Intriguingly, the reference is considerably more accurate than necessary to specify the location; it points to a specific spot on private property close to the corner of Woodham Rd, with a precision of around 1 metre.

Following the first logo, a tweet offered us: 1.12.12 25.15.21.18 15 1.18.5 2.5.12.15.14.7 20.15 21.19 which might reasonably be translated to: "all your O are belong to us."  A glorious restatement of the 2000 meme "all your base are belong to us," which was a mis-translation from the Sega mega Drive version of the video game Zero Wing; which was restated in a somewhat recent computer virus as the message "all your files are belong to us."

One commenter has offered the fact that we celebrate the 143rd anniversary of H.G. Wells' birth next week. But to this writer, that seems a little too twee.

More interesting is that the 'O' abduction appeared on the 5th September and the crop circle 'L' on the 15th.  This seems more like the beginning of a much longer sequence running on a 10-day interval.

Each of the icons has been a link to a Google search.  The first was for unexplained phenomenon and the current one for crop circles.  Despite the obvious paranormal connotations, there doesn't seem to be much more to make from this.
