Michael Jackson, king of pop, pioneer of of innovative music videos and father of the moonwalk is dead, according to an exclusive report on the Internet.

Entertainment gossip blog site TMZ.com broke the news of Jacko's death in an exclusive report today.

50 year old Jackson, who had been in ailing health for months, reportedly died of cardiac arrest and was due to commence a punishing global concert tour.

His career, like that of other enigmatic great artists, was marked by brilliance and pock-marked with controversy and he inevitably met the same fate as many.

In a sad coincidence, news of Jackson's death comes at approximately the same time as the passing of Farrah Fawcett who lost her battle with cancer.
