Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Semiconductor and network device manufacturer Macnica plans to show the "Software Platform for Home Network Digital Photo Frame" at the Embedded Systems Expo now going on in Tokyo.
Connecting to a home network through DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), the device's most basic function would be to display photos transmitted over the network.
But the inclusion of Android opens the door to other functionality as well. For example, the device includes Macnica's Marbo PictImpact that allows the adding of visual effects to the displayed images.
Going further, it's not hard to imagine a photo frame that could also retrieve e-mail or display a weather report.
In January, Fujitsu announced its Services Built for Android program, aimed at helping companies embed Android into lots of different devices besides phones.
