NetApp reaches Common Criteria EAL 4+

Your IT - Home IT

NetApp's DataFort and Lifetime Key Management have achieved Common Criteria EAL 4+ certification.

DataFort is NetApp's product for protecting stored data with access controls, authentication, logging, and hardware-based encryption.

Lifetime Key Management provides for the central management of encryption keys even when the protected data must be stored for years.

The Common Criteria agreement provides for the consistent testing of security products so that the results are recognised by each of the participating governments.

EAL 4 (Evaluation Assurance Level 4) indicates that the product has been methodically designed, tested and reviewed.

EAL 4+ means that a product meets and goes beyond the minimum requirements of EAL 4.

Few commercial products are certified at EAL 5 or higher.

"The Common Criteria EAL 4+ certification singles out NetApp as the leader in data security," said Tim Russell, vice president and general manager of archiving, compliance, and security solutions at NetApp.

"Having the strongest encryption in the industry validates our approach and makes NetApp the best investment for data security," he added.
