As one Japanese lingerie designer introduces the solar-powered bra and pants set that can generate enough energy to drive an iPod, we felt duty bound to investigate this, and other, tech innovations involving breasts...

Triumph International Japan, and to be honest where else would it be located, has revealed a green bra and panties set. Green in colour, and green in principle.

This is, as far as we are aware, the first solar-powered underwear for eco-ladies on a mission. On a mission to power their iPod from their bra, that is.

The less than becoming lingerie has a huge solar panel attached to the abdomen area of the corset style bra which generates electricity from light.

And there it falls over at the first hurdle, needing exposure to light to actually work.

Not even the most eco-friendly of ladies would want to show this particular bra and panties set off in public methinks.

Not to mention that the bra cannot be washed without damaging the solar panel. If it were a set of solar boxers for men, then, it might have stood a chance.

But it did get us to thinking what other clever ways have breasts, and more to the point underwear in general, been involved in the world of technology.
