The government's approach to e-security was last reviewed in 2006. The current effort is driven by what is seen as an increasingly hostile online security environment, and changes to the Australian environment including the proposed National Broadband Network.

"A secure online environment trusted by the community coupled with the Government's rollout of the National Broadband Network is critical to our nation’s continued social and economic prosperity," said Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.

The review is to be completed by October 2008. Public submissions swill be received until 31 July. The terms of reference and discussion paper are available from the Attorney-General's Department's web site.
