However, I do get an Internet company within the hugely competitive search space that attains profitability within five years of launch. And Yandex LLC did just that in November of 2002. I also get such a company outside of the usual Silicon Valley suspects which gets the bigger picture.

Last year Yandex acquired a Russian social networking site, Moikrug , and signalled its move into the broader search markets. I have a distinct feeling that we will be hearing a lot more of Yandex in the months and years to come even if we don't understand a word it is saying.
