VMware 'break out' vulnerability discovered

"There have been no reports of this issue occurring in customer environments," VMware officials stated, and foreshadowed the release of a patch to fix the issue.

Core claims it first reported the vulnerability to VMware in mid October 2007, and was told a fix would be released - but the release date progressively slipped from December 2007, first to January 2008, then February 14, then February 24. When that date was missed, Core released its advisory the following day.
