Google, Yahoo! add to business services

Your IT - Home IT

One of the risks you normally face with low-cost web hosting is that a spike in interest may result in a hefty bill for excess data transfer charges or the temporary closure of your site.

The Yahoo! Web Hosting Service provides small businesses with unlimited disk space, data transfer and email storage for $US11.95 per month.

"Yahoo! understands that small business owners face a number of obstacles to success, and we don't think that the growth of their online presence should be one of them," said Guy Yalif, Yahoo!'s director of web hosting products. "By going unlimited, Yahoo! is freeing its customers to focus on growing their businesses and driving traffic to their sites, rather than calculating the costs of megabytes."

"The new unlimited offer shows our ongoing commitment to driving value for small business owners, who are an important part of the ecosystem of partners that we're focused on serving," he added.

The service includes a domain name, 1000 email accounts, automatic search engine submission, and site building tools featuring search engine optimisation, lead submission forms, templates designed for specific types of small businesses, and automatically generated maps and driving directions.
