BigPond is now offering a wide range of consumer goods for sale online, in partnership with online retailer ShoppersAdvantage.
BigPond group managing director, Justin Milne, said BigPond Shopping would let customers choose from more than 10,000 products "BigPond's size and buying power also means we can bring our customers special discounts, and helps ensure we won't be beaten on value," said Milne.
However at present BigPond seems to offering nothing more than a portal to the ShoppersAdvantage web site. Its
shopping home page appears to be identical to that of
ShoppersAdvantage : down to specials, prices and links to specific sections. BigPond does have one advantage: usage is unmetered for most BigPond broadband members.
According to Milne, "customers will benefit from BigPond's expertise in secure online commerce, with access to a fully supported service centre, order tracking, 90 days insurance on your purchase, phone support and extended warranties."
These services would all seem to be provided direct by ShoppersAdvantage: although the contact phone number on the BigPond site is different, the fax number and postal address are identical to those of Shoppers Advantage.
