3 halves mobile data prices

Your IT - Home IT

3 has announced new mobile data plans cutting prices by half. They are now only marginally more expensive than its short term cut-price offers, announced in December, which expired on 15 January.
3's move follows that of Vodafone which announced a limited time half-price offer, to 31 December, in late November. However the company later told iTWire that at least one of these offers, the $5GB for $39 plan would continue into 2008.

3s' new plans, all over 24 months and including a free USB modem, are $29 per month for 2GB of data, $49 per month for 4GB and $69 per month for 6GB. However when users move outside 3's coverage area, - much smaller than any of its competitors' being limited to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast - usage charge ramps up to 10 cents per MB.
