iiNet launches 'naked' DSL, with free phone calls

Your IT - Home IT

iiNet has launched DSL services and VoIP provided over a line that does not also carry a standard telephone service, enabling users to get DSL without having to pay around $30 per month for a telephone service.
The bundled VoIP service comes with free local and national calls, calls to mobiles at 29 cents per minute and overseas calls from five cents per minute.

The service is ADSL2+ and is available in a range of plans for home and business users starting at $49.95 per month for a consumer plan with 2GB of peak time and 2GB of off peak data. A 10GB/20GB plan cost $69.95 per month and the top of the line 65GB/65GB plan $119.95.

Business plans start at $84.90 for 5GB rising to $624,90 for 500GB. iiNet CTO, Greg Bader, said the company was looking at offering Annex M on the business plans. "We have trialled that and we are getting close to offering that on business plans...And we are looking at extending that with multiline phone plans.

He added: "In the next 12 months we don't see the naked DSL plans being dominant. They are largely there for the niche, tech savvy customers."

The  plans are only available with the phone call option and Bader said: "one of the things people tell us is that things have become to complex, can't you just simplify things?".
