Yahoo drops the hammer on North American auctions

Your IT - Home IT

Yahoo has announced the closure of its US and Canada auction sites, effective June 16.

No detailed explanation was offered, just a statement to users that "After careful consideration, we have decided to close down our Yahoo! US and Canada Auction sites to better serve our valued customers through other Yahoo! properties."

The last listings will be accepted on June 3.

Yahoo Auctions will continue to operate in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

The news comes shortly after Yahoo's decision to close its Yahoo Photos site in favour of Flickr.
