eEye's temporary patch for Windows cursor vulnerability

Your IT - Home IT

Security vendor eEye has released a temporary patch to block the exploitation of Windows' animated cursor flaw.
eEye's patch works by preventing web sites from loading their own animated cursors.

"This workaround is not meant to replace the forthcoming Microsoft patch, but rather as a temporary mitigation against this flaw," said company officials.

According to eEye, the vulnerability is related to one that was patched by Microsoft over two years ago.

Microsoft has not indicated when an official fix will be provided.
