Seagate unveils 160GB 7200 RPM notebook drive

Your IT - Home IT

Seagate Technology has announced the second generation of its Momentus range of 2.5-inch notebook hard drives, using perpendicular recording technology to offer up to 160GB.

The Momentus combines a fast Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s interface along with 7200 RPM spin speed to create the highest- performance notebook hard drive ever, reports Macworld. A free-fall sensor lifts the head away from the platter should the notebook fall, reducing the chance of damage.

The Momentus is also available in 80GB, 100GB and 120GB capacities.
