“We are delighted to join the impressive mix of quality software available to Google users," PC Tools CEO Simon Clausen said in a statement.
Google Pack was launched by Google at CES 2006, at a time when speculation was rife that the company was planning to launch its own PC. To date, that hasn't happened, and much of Google's own software development efforts have largely centred on online applications such as mail, spreadsheets and word processing.
Much of Google Pack is made up of Google's own downloadable software packages, including its desktop search client, Google Earth map viewer, Picasa image editor, Talk chat client and its video player.
Adobe Reader, Mozilla Firefox, Norton Security Scan, RealPlayer and Skype are among the other third-party programs bundled with the package, which claims to reduce the number of separate updates users need to access.
