Are you ready for Shutdown Day March 24th?

Your IT - Entertainment

Could you go for one day without turning your computer on? The challenge has been posed, the gauntlet slapped across our collective faces.

Dennis Bystrov and Michael Taylor decided they were worried about the amount of time modern folks are spending at the keyboards around the world (I know what they mean).  So in the tradition of "international talk like a pirate day" have decided to begin a groundswell for a day to ignore our digital buddy.

Shutdown day 2007 is scheduled for March 24th  - a day when we power down our laptops, desktops, servers, main-frames, super computers, robot armies and any other device that we have become slaves to.

Some are against it, but others, such as many of those posting on the official web site are up for it.  So far the count is 7 to 1 in favour of those willing to disconnect for the day.

Hopefully Shutdown Day does not include gaming consoles, with the release of the PS3 the day before, I shall most likely not be at the keyboard anyway.
