Microsoft revamps Xbox site as console rivals circle

Your IT - Entertainment

While Nintendo and Sony can boast imminent new models, Microsoft is looking to a more basic tactic to boost interest in its Xbox console in Australia - a revamp of the product's official web site under a new producer.

Microsoft Australia has advertised for a site producer for the www.xbox.com.au site, seeking candidates to "manage and maintain the exciting Microsoft Xbox website".

While Microsoft likes to boast that it is a heavy consumer of its own products, that doesn't seem to entirely apply to the Xbox site. A custom Microsoft content management system (CMS) is used, but candidates also need proficiency in products from rival Adobe, and a basic knowledge of JavaScript is also said to "come in handy".

Although the recruitment ad boasts "a passion for playing is definitely a plus", material rewards are more limited. Despite the high profile of the site, the salary being offered for the job tops out at just $45,000.
