Best Buy to push Xbox 360s to people who miss out on PS3

Your IT - Entertainment

The original PunchJump article says that: “According to a Best Buy's retail protocol for selling the PS3, customers who waited in line but didn’t get a PS3 will be offered a launch day deal of an Xbox 360 Premium System and two game titles, with a third title at no cost”.

This offer is definitely time limited to try and get gamers to make an instant decision, with the offer said to be valid only from November  17 to November 19, giving those who couldn’t decide on the spot and extra couple of days to change their minds before the offering is ‘taken off the table’.

No doubt Best Buy will also be promoting the fact that the Xbox 360 has just undergone some substantial upgrades of its own, making it a better console than when it launched a year ago.
How successful this sales ploy will be is yet to be seen, but there’s little doubt that some will be tempted to walk away with something, rather than nothing, and to start the save-up for the PS3 all over again.

However there’s no question that many (although not all) of today’s consumers are savvier than ever thanks to the power of the Internet, allowing them to research products and prices online before they buy.

So, if the Xbox 360 really is for sale at cheaper prices than Best Buy offers, those consumers that cannot wait may well get an Xbox 360 instead – but they might find that they can get a best buy somewhere else.
