Home Your Tech Entertainment Nintendo dreams of an XL-sized white Christmas – in 3DS!
Nintendo 3DS XL - Limited White Edition coming Dec 6 2012 Nintendo 3DS XL - Limited White Edition coming Dec 6 2012

Snowflakes in 3D is not quite what Nintendo has in mind for its white Christmas, but instead, a Nintendo 3DS XL handheld games console in a limited edition “white” colour.

Nintendo may well be made of the right stuff, but its 3DS XL is now made of the white stuff, too – although only for a special “limited edition”, to join the existing red, blue and silver editions already on sale.

The new “white edition” of the Nintendo 3DS XL also comes with a special bonus – it is pre-installed with Super Mario 3D Land to boot, with Mario retaining all his cool, despite now living in a world filled with startlingly angry birds and extremely bad piggies.

Due to land in stores, collect coins and squish mushrooms from the 6th of December, Nintendo has a second surprise in store: a second White 3DS XL offering.

This second special edition comes with Mario Kario 7, which will naturally satisfy all those who feel the need, the need for speed – even if such thrills are digitally delivered, rather than felt at G-Force levels as you whip around the skies in Tom Cruise’s F-16 fighter jet.

Now, unlike the golden coins in Mario games which seem never ending, Nintendo warns us that “both consoles will only be available in limited quantities”, with the company urging Mario fans to

“make sure you don’t miss out!”.

Of course, there’s nothing stopping existing 3DS XL users from simply buying either game now and playing it, nor is there anything in particular stopping you from painting your existing 3DS XL white, but repainting your console isn’t exactly what you’d call a recommended course of action.

So, if you’re a Mario fan and a dedicated console gamer, and you haven’t already got a Nintendo 3DS XL, chances are the thing you’re now waiting for is December 6!
