Games Workshop many years ago, 1995 to be precise, delivered a dungeon crawl board game experience set in the Warhammer Fantasy world.  Now it seems iOS (iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone) wielders may get a chance to, at least in 2D animated form, relieve the fun of the board game.

Set for a Q1 2013 release an iOS version of Games Workshop’s 1995 Warhammer Quest board game is apparently under development by the UK’s Rodeo Games.

Building off the same engine that brought us the beautiful Hunters 2, Warhammer Quest will be deeply under the scrutiny of the fastidious Games Workshop approval eyes before rolling off the production line.

"By using our existing engine it means we can really focus on developing the parts of Warhammer Quest that made it such a great table-top game; truly unique hero characters and brutal enemies from across all the Warhammer races," said Rodeo Games co-founder Laurent Maguire.

Games Workshop licensing boss Jon Gillard added: "The guys at Rodeo are not only extremely talented developers with a great track record of successful iOS games in their Hunters franchise, but are also huge Warhammer fans. powerful combination is creating a fantastic translation of this beloved game, as well as making it thoroughly enjoyable working with them."

If Warhammer Quest is a success, perhaps GW could license Rodeo Games to look at iOS’ing more of their venerable board game line up – Space Hulk, ChainSaw Warrior or Talisman anybody?
