Quickflix (ASX: QFX) has launched its movie subscription streaming service in New Zealand and announced that it will be available on Apple iPads and iPhones in the next few weeks.

Quickflix claims to be the first home entertainment company to offer, in New Zealand, unlimited viewing of Hollywood movies and TV series streamed on-demand over the internet.

In addition to iPads and iPhones, Quickflix said that the service would also soon also be available through Samsung smart TVs, Galaxy tablets and smartphones in both countries.

At present subscribers in Australia and New Zealand have access to Quickflix streaming over internet capable TVs, Sony TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, PCs, Apple Macs, tablets and mobile phones.

The New Zealand launch was seized on by communications minister, Amy Adams, as vindication of her government's backing for a widespread FTTH rollout, the Ultra Fast Broadband network.

She said: "This is an example of the sort of innovate approaches I expect to see as UFB is rolled out around the country...Having Quickflix enter the market means customers will have access to content that suits them on demand. It offers services in a more flexible way than traditional subscription and free-to-air broadcasters we are familiar with."
