The PS Vita is now available at, most, retail stores across Australia.  Here are the official details.

The local Sony launch was full of positive energy and long-term planning for the PlayStaion Vita, the new hand-held gaming platform designed to integrate into the connected Sony world further than before.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, 23 February, 2012 - Following a launch event held on Sydney Harbour this week, headlined by Empire of the Sun DJs, the highly anticipated PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) officially launches in stores nationally today.
 
PlayStation Vita offers uncompromised portable gaming experiences and provides the convenience of a small yet powerful device that you can use on the go. The launch draws on years of PlayStation® gaming expertise and leadership; it is the fifth major hardware launch and the second true portable launch for Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.).
