Optus MeTV gains foreign-language packages

Your IT - Entertainment

The promised foreign-language programming has arrived on Optus MeTV, the company's IPTV service.

Last October, Optus launched MeTV, a rebranded IPTV service powered by fetchTV. At the time, the company said it planned to offer foreign language channels in addition to those originally offered.

And that has come to pass. Optus has added four packages: Hindi (14 channels, $19.95 per month), Mandarin (24 channels, $19.95 per month), Korean (six channels, $14.95 per month, and Mandarin (seven channels of  Singaporean and Taiwanese programs for $19.95 per month). Those charges are in addition to the $9.95 monthly subscription to the basic 30-movie service, but that is credited back to customers on the Optus Fusion $109 home phone and broadband bundle.

The packs deliver a mix of news and general entertainment, music, movies, food, lifestyle and spiritual programming.

"Australia is a culturally diverse nation," said Austin Bryan, director of Optus digital media. "As interactive and on demand internet TV becomes more and more popular, we are committed to delivering accessible, relevant and convenient content solutions to entertainment hungry households."
