Online DVD rental and IPTV service provider, Quickflix (ASX: QFX), has struck a deal with Home Box Office of the US to stream HBO content to Australian customers.
According to Quickflix, the deal gives it access to over 500 hours of content spanning television series, films, documentaries and stand-up comedy including popular shows such as Entourage, Sex and the City and The Sopranos and mini-series such as Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
Quickflix has not given a start date for the service but said: "Subscribers to Quickflix streaming will soon have access to HBO's content, via an expanding range of Internet connected TVs and devices."
Quickflix content is presently available direct from its own web site and via Sony Internet enabled TVs, Blu-Ray DVD players and PS3.
Quickflix launched the service in October 2011 is already offering content from Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, Lakeshore Entertainment and NBCUniversal International Television.
Earlier this month the company reported that more than 10 percent of its 100,000 plus rental DVD subscribers had taken up its new movie streaming service.
