Music streaming service Rdio has quietly launched in Australia, with geo-blocking now removed and subscriptions in Australian dollars now available.
rdio launches in Australia
As first spotted by Gizmodo Australia, the site has now lifted blocking on Australians attempting to access the service, and now also accepts registrations from Australian residents. Subscriptions are available for $20.99 through the company's iPad application, or $8.90 for web-only access or $12.90 for unlimited access via Rdio's mobile and web applications.
Yet despite all that, no official announcement has been made by the company on either its blog or by any of its social networking accounts.
The reason for that remains unclear, all though it's likely a slim range of songs currently available are behind the decision to keep the launch quiet for now.
A 7-day free trial subscription is available here, after which a paid subscription is required to continue.
The number of streaming services in Australia is slowly growing - albeit with a limited song range as content deals are slowly sorted with the music companies. JB Hi-Fi recently launched its NOW service which is web-only for now but appears to offer a larger range of modern songs than Rdio.
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
