Using a smartphone to control your set top box or PVR is all the rage. Now fetchtv is joining in with iPhone and Android apps to control its box.

It is also used while viewing, for example to change channels, adjust the volume, rent a movie, or schedule a recording without disrupting the program that's currently being watched.
The iPhone/iPad version is available from the iTunes Store, and the Android version is expected shortly.
"The design of the apps is excellent. They allow you to browse fetchtv's full electronic program guide and movie catalogue with ease, and to schedule recordings or rent movies right from the app - from anywhere in the world," said Internode managing director Simon Hackett. Internode is one of the Australian ISPs offering a fetchtv service. The others offering or preparing to offer the service are iiNet, Westnet, Netspace, Adam Internet, OptusNet and My Telecom.
"When you're at home, the apps also control the fetchtv box, allowing you to change channels and start playing movies - even when the kids have lost the regular remote!" added Mr Hackett.
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
