Foxtel subscribers are in for a 'cool' treat this week, with ESPN broadcasting the Winter X Games in full 3D.
Fans can see Aussie action sports stars Alex Pullin, Torah Bright, Holly Crawford, Anna Segal and Russ Henshaw up close and personal when ESPN 3D broadcasts 18 hours of coverage of ESPN's Winter X Games 15 from Friday, January 28 to Monday, January 31.
ESPN 3D's live broadcasts of Winter X Games, from Aspen, Colorado, will be available on Foxtel's 3D demonstration channel, Channel 201.
The Winter X Games 15 feature SuperPipe, Slopestyle and Big Air events using skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile disciplines.
This is the first time the WINTER X GAMES have been broadcast in 3D and follows the success of ESPN's X Games 16 3D coverage in August of 2010.
According to ESPN, Veteran X Games commentators Keir Dillon, Chris Ernst and Jamie Little will collectively host 18 hours of live Winter X Games 15 coverage on ESPN 3D. A roster of action sports experts including Kevin Pearce, Mike Douglas, Zach Crist, Keir Dillon and Chris Burandt will join Masekela for the telecast and serve as analysts for the Skiing, Snowboarding and Snowmobile events. Winter X Games athlete Sarah Burke will join the telecast as a reporter.
In addition to its 3D coverage, ESPN will also broadcast 24 hours coverage of Winter X Games 15 in high definition on ESPN HD (Channel 211) and in standard definition on ESPN (Channel 508) from January 28-31. Winter X Games 15 content will also be distributed on ESPN360 available to Foxtel and Austar sports subscribers.
