The floods in Queensland have pushed the 'GST and online shopping' issue off the front page for now, but there there's no shortage of activity in online retail. A new entrant - OHKI - has an interesting proposition that could further boost confidence in the sector.

Sydney-based OHKI appears to be following the Kogan model of cutting out the middlemen from the supply chain and avoiding costly shopfront premises.

The company has launched with just one product - a $999 (plus $65 delivery fee outside Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart and Perth) 42in LCD/LED HD TV.  The unit is fitted with a 120Hz panel made by LG, and provides pause/rewind/record capability if a USB storage device is added.

One of the most interesting parts of OHKI's proposition is a two week free trial.

"OHKI is dedicated to offering a fair dinkum deal and we are 100% focussed on looking after our customers before anything else," said co-founder and director Lucas McEntee.

"We're not interested in hype," he added in an apparent dig at Ruslan Kogan's high profile in the media, "and we hope to shake up the market with some healthy competition in 2011."

OHKI plans to add 26in, 32in, 37in 46in and 55in models in the coming weeks, with other home entertainment products to follow.
