Microsoft has released pricing for the Xbox 360 Kinect motion and voice sensing controller. Arriving before Christmas and packaged with a game, Microsoft is going aggressive with its controllerless push. News also of a new 4GB Xbox 360 Arcade model hitting the market.
Microsoft has sent through launch details for Kinect, the controllerless, motion, face and voice recognition peripheral for the Xbox 360.
At under AU$200 and packed with a free game (Kinect Adventures) Microsoft is hoping to (literally) sway existing Xbox 360 owners away from their traditionally controllers, or capture a new, more casually orientated market to the Xbox 360.
The Kinect device will have a recommended retail price of AU$199 and have you dancing in front of your TV/Xbox 360 set-up like a fool straight away. Microsoft has 15 Kinect ready games available for the launch.
“Kinect offers tremendous entertainment value for the whole family and those who are new to video games – with nothing in your hands and no buttons to press. If you can do it in life, you can do it with Kinect” said David McLean, Head of Xbox, Microsoft Australia and New Zealand.
Microsoft has also expanded the on-board memory of the formally hard drive free Arcade Xbox 360, giving it 4GB of on-board storage, a packaged Kinect Sensor and Kinect Adventures game for a AU$449.00 deal.
“With a record month for Xbox 360 console sales in June, we are excited about our momentum. Given our rich offering this Christmas including Kinect for Xbox 360, Foxtel by Xbox LIVE and a great line up of blockbuster games, I imagine consumers will definitely want to pre-order at their retailer of choice to secure their Kinect under the tree this Christmas. It is going to be an exciting time for all of us.” McLean concluded.
