Sony boosts 3D home entertainment range

Your IT - Entertainment

Sony's latest Blu-ray range emphasises 3D, but there's also something for those who bought a hi-def TV without the features that are now commonplace.

The march of 3D TV seems inexorable. If you bought a 3D set to watch the World Cup (or for any other reason), you may now be in the market for a 3D Blu-ray player.

Sony has announced a pair of Blu-ray players and a trio of Blu-ray home theatre systems, each with 3D capability.

Prices start at $A299 for the BDPS470 player and range up to $A999 for the BDVE970W home theatre featuring wireless rear speakers.

If you're not taking the 3D route but your HDTV lacks support for recent features such as Internet video, you may be interested in the $A229 BDPS370 Blu-ray player.

In addition to support for the 19 channels available on Bravia Internet Video including Yahoo!7 and SBS, the BDPS370 - like the other two new players from Sony - provides three-second startup and works with the free Blu-ray remote app for iPhone or iPod touch.

Features common to the new range include photo, video and music playback via USB, and DLNA streaming.
