Telstra has added content from MGM Studios to BigPond TV, just a day before its T-Box set top box goes on sale in Telstra stores.
T-Box will provide BigPond TV, movie downloads, HD free-to-air channels, a personal video recorder and YouTube videos.
Telstra says MGM will supply titles from its "extensive and historic library" to the BigPond Movies downloads service. MGM joins Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount, Village Roadshow, Icon, Umbrella and Hopscotch as providers of movies to BigPond TV, which also offers five sports channels plus news and music channels.
'BigPond TV's movie download service will commence with a library of around 1400 titles, while the seven channels of news, sport and entertainment will offer a catalogue of a video-on-demand with thousands of hours of available viewing," according to Telstra's chief marketing officer, Kate McKenzie.
T-Box will be priced at $299 outright, or eligible Telstra customers can add it to one of Telstra's bundles and pay it off in instalments over 24 months. Telstra says it will "dramatically increase the broadband data allowance" available as part of its bundles from tomorrow, 17 June.
