LG and Microsoft in Xbox 360 based 3D gaming deal

Your IT - Entertainment

Is it the way of the future?  Tech companies would like to think that HD 3D gaming will be an excuse to spark a new round of consumers spending.  Microsoft looks to be stitching up a  deal with electronics giant LG to partner in the 3D gaming space.

Tech PR companies may have a hurdle to overcome when it comes to general-public apathy towards 3D TV Tech in the average home.  Perhaps only pornography, sport, or video-gaming can provide the catalyst for a new round of big-screen update spending to occur under the guise of HD 3D tech.

Microsoft looks to be hedging its bets and snuggling up to LG, at least in South Korea, to provide 3D HD TV and Xbox 360 orientated bundles in that region.  The companies have entered a memorandum of understanding to cross promote the technologies.

According to a report on engadget.com LG has published a press release detailing the bundling.  South Korean customers will be able to pick up a LG 55/47LX9500 LED Television along with bundled Xbox 360 3D game titles.

The report includes a response from Microsoft US : 3D games are available today on Xbox 360 and will continue to evolve. Today, you can buy a 3DTV and wear glasses to play games like Avatar and "Batman: Arkham Asylum." The promotional partnership with LG announced in South Korea today is specific to the South Korean market, but is further evidence that as 3D adoption grows, Xbox 360 will support 3D games and entertainment.

Sony has also announced a software upgrade for the PS3 to enhance 3D processing and has also said that there is 'alot' of development on 3D enabled game titles in Sony controled studios.
