Time for Sydneysiders to rescan TVs, says ACMA

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has warned Sydney viewers that they may need to do a rescan of their digital TVs or other receivers to pick up TVS on channel 44.


As reported last week, Sydney's community TV station has begun broadcasting in digital.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is reminding Sydney residents that not all TVs, set-top boxes and other tuners automatically scan for new stations, and so manual intervention may be necessary.

"Many receivers will require a 'rescan' or 'retune' every time a new channel is launched," said ACMA chairman, Chris Chapman.

"This is not a situation that relates only to TVS - it occurs whenever a new digital channel commences in any market," he added.

However, TVS is not available right across Sydney, only in areas served by the Gore Hill transmitter.
