Kindle comes to BlackBerry

Your IT - Entertainment

A BlackBerry version of the Kindle e-book reader has arrived, featuring interoperability with other Kindle-capable devices.

E-books from Amazon that are intended for use with the company's Kindle devices can already be used on Windows PCs, iPhone and iPod touch.

That list has now been extended to include the BlackBerry, thanks to a new application from Amazon that runs on the Bold 9000 and 9700, Curve 8520 and 8900, Storm 9530 and 9550, and Tour 9630.

The free application is available from Amazon's web site - but at this stage only to US customers, who can use it in conjunction with more than 420,000 books from the Amazon catalogue.

The application includes support for Whispersync to synchronise bookmarks across multiple devices, in-app browsing and purchasing of books, downloading of previously purchased books, and adjustable text size.

Colour display is used where supported by the content.
