Digital Comics for PSP

Your IT - Entertainment

A wide range of comics is now available on the PlayStation Portable platform.

The 6.20 firmware release for all PSP models opens the door to a new range of content - Digital Comics.

Comics from big name publishers such as Marvel line up in the PlayStation Store alongside underground and local publishers, Sony officials claimed.

The downloadable Digital Comics application includes a feature called Autoflow Viewer: "an intuitive feature that moves the reader from frame to frame and zooms in and out, all at the touch of a button. It mimics the way your eyes would move across a print page from left to right," officials said.

If you want to read at your own pace, manual navigation is also provided.

Comics can be downloaded directly to the PSP from the PlayStation Store.

The first countries getting the content are Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and UK. Digital Comics will arrive in the rest of Sony's "Europe" region during 2010, starting with France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Prices for individual comics appear to range from $A1.75 to $A6.95. 15 issues - including some big name franchises such as Star Trek, Transformers and Wallace and Gromit - are available free of charge.
