Renting DVD movies from a vending machine is already a cheap alternative to the traditional video store.  But from today Instant DVD is rebranding to oovie and promising not only an expansion on the number of DVD dispensing machines, but also free rental on a Wednesday.

The concept is pretty straight forward; anybody with a credit card can approach the DVD dispensing machine and grab a DVD for the night.

At AU$2.99 a night the cost is pretty competitive, and if you don’t return the disc to a machine within 14 days, you can keep your copy – that catch being that your credit card will be drained a total of AU$36.00 for the privilege. 

Currently oovie is running around 80 machines in Melbourne and Sydney but has larger plans in the works, these  include rolling out many more ATM style vending machines and free movie rentals on hump-day Wednesday.
