250GB Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 bundle

Your IT - Entertainment

The war is escalating again!  The video game console war that is.  Feeling the sales pressure from the PS3 Slim and its new sexy price tag Microsoft has revealed its new weapon, a 250GB hard drive equipped Xbox 360, themed and bundled with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Microsoft has used the power of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 expectations, coupled with a boost in hard drive capacity, with a little thematic paint splashed in to fire a new shot across the Sony bow in the video game console war.

North America fans will be able to pre-order the following Xbox 360 bundle for US$399.00, with other regions (Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Australia and New Zealand) having a chance next week.

* Limited Edition Xbox 360 Console with exclusive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Design
* Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Standard Edition (Rated "M" for Mature.)
* 250GB HD
* 2 Black Wireless Controllers
* 1 Black Xbox 360 Wired Headset
* 1 Ethernet Cable
* 1 Xbox 360 Composite A/V cable
* Free one month subscription to Xbox LIVE Gold (Xbox LIVE Silver subscription is included with console)

The US bundle also included a free Netflix trial offer, so that North American Xbox 360 owners can go ahead and fill that juicy hard drive with movies on demand.

At the Los Angeles preview event, CEO of developer Infinity Ward, Vince Zampella was on hand to comment:  "It’s the highest compliment to the team and our fans to have a special themed Xbox 360 console.  The precision and detail that’s been put into the console captures the intensity and feel of Modern Warfare 2.  We can’t wait for our community and fans around the world to see for themselves on November 10."

"It is thrilling to bring the exclusive Modern Warfare 2-inspired Xbox 360 console to Call of Duty fans. Being able to work so closely with the talented team at Infinity Ward on the design has enabled us to develop a console that will set bragging rights around the world," added Albert Penello, Senior Director of Global Marketing for Xbox 360.  "These fans deserve the biggest Xbox 360 console ever, and we’re delivering with more storage space than ever before and freedom to enjoy their favorite games and downloadable Game Add-ons, including the first two Modern Warfare 2 maps that will be available first on Xbox LIVE."

At this stage the Microsoft has no revealed plans to release the 250GB HDD as a separate upgrade for existing Xbox 360 owners.

At the time of writing no pricing was available for regions outside of the U.S.
[UPDATE] Australian pricing for this bundle will be AU$599
