The Satio’s younger brother is the Aino, which has a name just as odd and boasts features almost as grand. The Aino could be seen as a watered down Satio, at least from an imaging perspective (it has a 5 megapixel camera), and in slider form. The unit, however, offers unique functionality in that it’ll work hand in hand with your PS3. The Aino will let users watch movies from their PS3 over a Wi-Fi connection and also control their systems using the Aino as a remote control. The Aino's slider form also means it'll appeal to those who are wary of using
just a touchcscreen, as the Aino still offers a 3 inch touchsreen but also a slideout keypad, for those who still need a keypad when texting.
The third jewel in Sony Ericsson’s fresh crown of phones is the Yari. The Yari, whilst it doesn’t look particularly new or revolutionary from the outside, houses some very new technology inside. Targeted particularly at gamers, the Yari features a built-in motion sensor which can be utilized by moving your body or arms around. Although this can potentially make you look very stupid, people repetively smashing buttons on their phones also generally look stupid. The phone will come preinstalled with Bowling and Tennis, much like Wii Sports, but it remains questionable exactly how many third-party games in the future will feature this motion sensing functionality.
If the Yari becomes a hit, it will be likely that other phones from both Sony Ericsson and other companies will mimic its motion-sensing abilities, however the actual reality of how the system works remains very much a mystery.
So, of these new phones, what are their chances? Read on to find out.
