Wii MotionPlus Aussie release details

Your IT - Entertainment

The enhanced movement detection of the Wii-mote is not too far from Australian shores.  The Wii MotionPlus promises greater accuracy with compatible games, including the upcoming follow-up to the greatest selling game of all time Wii Sports.

Nintendo Australia has dropped by the iTWire offices to give us details of both the Wii MotionPlus as well as Wii Sports Resort.

With the Wii permuting Australian households like no other living room game console, there is plenty of interest in how Nintendo could further enhance the experience.

One way was to improve the accuracy of the iconic Wii controller, the Wii-Mote.

Up steps Wii MotionPlus.  Nintendo say: Available from 11 June 2009, the new Wii MotionPlus accessory easily connects to the Wii Remote and gives players new levels of precision and performance when used with specially designed games such as Wii Sports Resort.

The beach themed Wii Sports Resort takes the fun and intuitive controls of the original Wii Sports to the next level with a new set of entertaining and physically immersive activities. Players can cruise on a water scooter, duel with swords, toss flying discs to a cute Mii-like dog and much more, and all with the deep control enhancements of Wii MotionPlus.

Wii MotionPlus tracks players’ movements in finer detail and with greater accuracy than ever before. With Wii MotionPlus, even the slightest twist of the wrist or turn of the body is replicated exactly on the television screen, which allows users to become even more immersed in Wii game play.

Wii Sports Resort will be available from 23 July 2009 and will come packed with a single Wii MotionPlus device.

Like Wii Play – the game packed with and extra Wii-Mote - Wii Fit and its included balance board peripheral and even Wii Mario Kart with steering wheel shaped Wii-Mote housing – Nintendo have a proven track record in bundling peripherals with software with great success.

Whilst the Wii MotionPlus won’t be compatible with all back catalogue Wii games, it is sure to be a hit with those frustrated by games that could be improved with extra accuracy.

Wii Sports Resort AU SRP $99.95 / NZ SRP $129.00 (includes Wii MotionPlus)
