THQ and Volition have announced the release of sci-fi shooter Red Faction: Guerrilla demo for PS3 and what must be a quivering Xbox 360 given earlier reports that the game will take Microsoft’s game box to its technical limit.
In an interview back in January , Volition producer Rick White spoke about the company’s development on Red Faction: Guerrilla for the console platforms.

During the interview, White was bemoaning some of the technical limitations supposedly encountered in getting the game across the line.  He singled out the Xbox 360 when saying; ” Yeah, we’ve got it to the point where we can’t even put an extra vehicle into a world, because it’ll blow the memory. Every little change we make we have to be hyper-critical about it because it could just bring the whole system down. “

Well now we can see for ourselves, was this just bad programming or will Red Faction: Guerrilla take shooters to a new technical level.

THQ Inc. and Volition, Inc. today announced the single-player demo for Red Faction(r): Guerrilla(tm) is now available for free download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation(r)Network for the PLAYSTATION(r)3 computer entertainment system. 

Developed by THQ internal studio Volition, Inc., Red Faction: Guerrilla is a 3rd person, open-world shooter featuring real physics-based destruction, a story-driven single-player campaign and robust multiplayer options.  The demo features an action-packed single-player mission introducing the groundbreaking GeoMod 2.0 Destruction Engine, and comes just weeks before the June 4th launch of Red Faction: Guerrilla.

"The press and consumer buzz for Red Faction: Guerrilla continues to build, as gamers prepare for a new standard in open-world, destruction-based game-play," said Kevin Kraff, vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. 

"The single-player demo will give consumers an exciting taste of what the full game will offer on June 4th.", Kraff said.

During the demo players will step into the heavy shoes of freedom fighter Alec Mason as he battles the oppressive Earth Defence Force for control of Mars.
